Vacation Planning – Getting the best bang for your bucks

I love to go on vacation.  A lot of people love to go on vacation.  Vacations aren’t always cheap.  How do you get the best bang for your bucks on a vacation?

I believe that an epic vacation takes a lot of planning before you even start your trip.  Sure, you can just call a travel agency and book an escorted tour that will include airlines, hotel, transportation, activities, and meals.  If you’re one of those people, you can stop reading now.

Escorted tours don’t work for me.  I’m a control freak.  I like to decide how I will fly, where I will stay, what I will do, and my meals.  I plan everything on my trips to get the best bang for my bucks.

This will be the first in a series of blog posts on planning a vacation that will get the best bang for your bucks.  I hope to share information on planning airlines, hotel, and activities.

Wait a minute! I’m sure you’re wondering if I even have any experience traveling. I live on Kauai, which is in Hawaii. I travel to one of the other Hawaiian islands at least once a month and usually stay overnight. I have elite frequent flier status on Hawaiian Airlines. I organize group trips for work at least twice a year. My Mister and I travel out of the state at least three times a year with one of those trips going to an international destination. We have traveled around the U.S. and have also been to Canada, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, New Zealand, Italy, Switzerland, and France. I’ve been on my fair share of trips.

The next blog post will be about a trip I took to Manila, Hong Kong, and Macau.  I just want to give you an insight on how we like to travel and then I’ll follow up in later posts on the specifics of vacation planning.

Happy traveling and looking forward to seeing you in the future posts!
